Advisory Councils and Partnerships

Advisory Councils
Southern Growth Policies Board develops projects and publications under the guidance of four advisory councils. Each council is chaired by a Southern governor and membership is comprised of business, academic, government and nonprofit members representing all of the Southern states.

The four councils are aligned with Southern Growth's major areas of research and members provide guidance and feedback on designing and implementing regional initiatives. Each year, one council takes the lead in planning and executing Southern Growth's yearly conference and producing the Report on the Future of the South.

The councils include:

The Southern Technology Council focuses on technology and innovation;

The Southern Global Strategies Council focuses on globalization including international trade and investment, immigration, international education and relationship building;

The Council for a New Economy Workforce focuses on workforce issues;

Council on the Southern Community focuses on leadership, civic engagement, community development and growth and quality of life.

Partnerships
Southern Growth Policies Board has a partnership with the Southern Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (SCUPSO) to improve the quality of policy-making and government management in the region. Southern Growth and SCUPSO collaborate to produce toolkits, publications and teaching aids that are used by SCUPSO member institutions in providing training and counsel to more than 35,000 local, state and regional government and nonprofit leaders in the South each year.
