The Global Strategies Council (GSC) serves as the South's advocate for all aspects of state-level international activity. It guides Southern Growth's research and initiatives on issues ranging from trade, investment, immigration, transportation and education to relationship building between the states and overseas markets. The GSC's mission is to help the South's citizens, businesses, and communities become globally engaged and competitive.
The Southern and national economies are permanently linked to the rest of the world. Foreign trade and investment create high quality jobs and increase net wealth, especially in communities that have the business infrastructure to connect and compete globally. The GSC promotes international business and cultural understanding to maximize the opportunities for regional economic development.
Strategic Focus
- Educating state leaders and the public about the role of trade, international education, immigration and overseas relationships in fostering peace and prosperity;
- Developing a business plan for economic and cultural relationships between Southern institutions and businesses with their counterparts in Central America;
- Assisting states in tracking their international performance;
-
Serving as an umbrella under which states can work together on joint ventures.
