Program Description: The Riley Institute pursues a dual mission of equal importance. The first is to explore ways of institutionalizing the accomplishments of Joseph P. Riley, Jr. with respect to his vision for healthy urban living through education and public service. The second is to employ its resources to assist the College of Charleston in meeting a threefold mission of providing professional graduate-level and liberal arts undergraduate education, conducting research of benefit to the state and region, and providing community service. Specifically, it supports the College’s Master of Public Administration program, Master of Historic Preservation program, and undergraduate Urban Studies major, and conducts survey, evaluation, and applied research.
